Experience the magic of working with clay. In this enchanting workshop, you'll use a real potter’s wheel to create your own pot, bowl, or cup. No experience needed – just curiosity and a willingness to work with your hands.
You’ll learn the basic techniques of wheel throwing step by step: from centering and opening the clay to pulling it up and shaping your form. Let yourself be guided by the rhythm of the wheel, feel how the clay responds, and discover how calm and focus flow together in a single smooth movement.
When you’re throwing, you’re not just working with a material – you’re also working with yourself.
After a short explanation about clay, tools, and techniques, we’ll get started right away. You’ll learn how to center your clay on the wheel, open it, and pull it up into a shape. A cup, bowl, or abstract form – the foundation is up to you. Your instructor will guide you step by step and help you create your very first piece.
We’ll practice using feeling, technique, and focus. And we promise: your hands will take over. Expect concentration, relaxation, and a lot of joy in the process.
At the end of the session, you’ll choose which piece you'd like to keep. We’ll dry it thoroughly and then fire it in our ceramic kiln. This process takes about two to three weeks. After that, you can join a follow-up workshop to glaze your piece yourself, or we can glaze it for you with a transparent finish.
