Our surroundings

Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts is located at the Uilenburgerisland, a quiet island in the centre of Amsterdam. Originaly built to be used as a shipyard the island was never used as such. It became a well populated area. These days it is a quiet, peacefull and somewhat hidden part of the centre of Amsterdam. Just 5 minutes from all the hustle and bustle of the red light district, the fleemarket on Waterloosquare and cafés and bars at Rembrandtquare or Nieuwmarkt.

Please feel free to ask us about our favorite restaurant or luchroom. We love to share.

Country side

Amsterdam is a lovely city but The Netherlands is bigger than this!

Visit Alkmaar on Friday for the Cheesemarket, visit Delft, Giethoorn, The Hague, Rotterdam, Volendam or Marken.

On a sunny day you can visit the beach at IJmuiden or go to Zandvoort. You can travel there by public transport.

Or better yet rent a bike and tour the outskirts of the city. You will be amazed by the flat countryside, the windmills and the little villages. You can rent a bike at MacBike and tour the city.

But maybe the best thing you can do on a sunny day in Amsterdam is take a seat on one of the many terraces and enjoy the beatiful scenery, the people and the Amsterdam atmosphere.
