Basic course shoe making

In our ten day course shoemaking you learn how to make your first pair of shoes. Jouw stoute schoenen - the company owned by master shoemaker & designer Esther van Schagen offers you the chance to learn how to design & make your own pair of leather shoes. You start with your own design, and end up with a handmade pair of unique shoes that you will treasure the rest of your life.

The basic course takes ten days, in which you learn step by step to make your own pair of unique shoes. You learn how to make patterns on your own last, how to cut leather, how to skive it, how to mould it and how to stitch it. The inner soles, the strengthening layers, the heel, all the parts of the shoe will be dealt with and made by you. Of course you will do this with the professional guidance of Esther van  Schagen and Benthe Al.

Everyone can make shoes, you too! Before we start the course we plan a personal intake in which we discuss your wishes, measure your size, and choose a last on which you will make your shoes.

The unique method of Jouw Stoute Schoenen gives you the opportunity to have a taste of an original craft while working on your own design. We help you to create your design - if it is technically possible we can help you realise it.

We work in small groups so that you will receive a lot of personal attention in creating your own unique design. The course is hosted on Fridays and Saturdays and takes ten days. Included in the courseprice are a set of lasts, the parts you need like innersole and other parts that you can not buy in stores. Leather is excluded.
